Job Overview:

The Café Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the café's daily operations, including managing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, cooking the food as per the orders from the customers, maintaining inventory, and driving the café's profitability. This position requires a hands-on leader who can manage the café’s resources efficiently, foster a positive work environment, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. The Café Manager will play a crucial role in the growth of the business by developing staff and maintaining high standards for both food quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff Management:

1. Recruit, train, and supervise café staff to ensure a high-performing and motivated team.
2. Oversee the scheduling of staff, ensuring proper coverage during all hours of operation.
3. Quickly source and arrange replacements in case of staff absence or sickness.
4. Conduct regular staff appraisals, providing constructive feedback to enhance productivity and professional development.

Operational Oversight:

1. Manage all day-to-day operations of the café, including food and beverage service, hiring, scheduling, and staff supervision.
2. Ensure smooth and efficient running of the café by overseeing the selling of food, drinks, and customer service processes.
3. Monitor and maintain stock levels, ordering supplies as necessary to meet operational needs.
4. Work closely with the maintenance department to report and resolve any equipment issues.

Customer Service & Engagement:

1. Taking order from the guests and suggesting them other items available in the menu

2. Cooking and preparing the food with high quality standards

3. Food prep for the next day so that cafe can be open on time and food is ready to cook as per the order

4. Maintain a strong customer focus by engaging with guests, answering questions, and promptly resolving any complaints related to food quality or service.
5. Listen to customer preferences and make thoughtful menu item suggestions to enhance their experience.
6. Actively promote the café to guests, including day-trip visitors, through personalized service and product recommendations.
7. Collaborate with the management team on menu planning, pricing strategies, and cost-saving initiatives.

Compliance & Standards:

1. Ensure full compliance with hygiene, health, and safety regulations in all aspects of the café’s operations.
2. Implement and maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety to provide a safe and welcoming environment for both staff and customers.

3. Saskatchewan Food Handling certificate is a must

Staff Development:

1. Foster a positive and productive work environment where employees can develop professionally and contribute to the café’s success.
2. Organize and facilitate ongoing staff training to improve service standards and ensure alignment with the café’s goals.
